Italy trip part 2

I am lucky enought to have spent the day in Rome all day today. I woke up early and followed the advice of the lady in reception to go to a weekly market at Porta Portese. I LOVED it! It was a mix of like a flea market and an antique/craft market. I ended up with a few string of pearls that were dirt cheap as well as a VERY large ring that looks exactly like something my Grandmother would buy and I would be jealous of, and some handmade olivewood serving spoons. The olivewood seems like a weird buy but we sell it at Crate and Barrel and we charge $18 for two small salad forks. I got three serving utensils and a citrus reamer for less then that. I can not complain and I knew the value.

Then I ended up wondering around the city. I stopped and had my first meal by myself at a resturant. I was just so relieved to be off my feet I did not feel bad about it at all. Even though I ordered olives and they never came but he charged me for them anyway. He seemed annoyed I did not speak Italian so I just did not tip him. I figured it was even.

I then headed over to the Pantheon. I had been wanting to see it for ages. Normally anything Pagan gets my attention so I was excited to see this converted church. As I walked through the doors I was struck at the size but I thought it was simply beautiful not moving in my oppion. I decided to trek over to the Trevi fountain and Spanish Steps as I was in the area. I was blown away by the Trevi Fountain. As I got closer and could hear the water, tears just started to fill my eyes. I could not believe that I was standing there. I was so excited. I just sat staring at it crying like a baby. I felt so lucky to be here looking at it as well as just amazed by it. It is a true masterpiece and I loved every second I was there looking at it. I was then on to the Spanish Steps that I could see would be amazing at night. Hopefully, tomorrow night I can get there.

I am off to have a very large dinner as I am starving right now but I will write more soon.
